The family of hogs were relaxing in South Africa’s Kruger National Park when they were spotted by nature guide Andrew Nicholson.
The 28-year-old, who is also a keen wildlife photographer, said: “It was mid-morning when the sounder of warthogs settled in the sun to warm up.
“A female warthog was photographed with her piglets fast asleep on her back.
“I felt the need to run and fetch my camera because I knew I was seeing a very unique moment.
“A special bond between mother and young, with the young completely comfortable under her care and supervision.”
Andrew, who is from Johannesburg, captured the photos back in December 2011 but the pictures only recently came to light after being shared on social media.
