Missouri-born Jeremiah Raber, 38, is the owner and creator of Nutshellz, which claims to be the strongest jockstrap in the world.
And in order to publicise his Kickstarter campaign to produce a version for kids, Jeremiah's business partner and avid hunter Matt Heck shot him with a rifle while he was wearing the super-strength cup.
Luckily, both the product and Matt did their job, and Jeremiah was completely unharmed.
The pair are marketing Nutshellz to athletes and the armed forces.
Jeremiah said: “I wanted to know what my product felt like when hit by a bullet and we used a .22 long rifle.
“I wasn't worried about the trigger-man missing but there was a bit of worry about the bullet skidding off the cup. But I was protected in the vital areas around the cup.
“We currently have two models – the first is made with Kevlar and carbon fiber and is primarily for heavy impact sports such as hockey, baseball, cricket and MMA.
“The second cup, which I was wearing for the stunt, is for police and the military and has a higher strength material at its core called Dyneema – which is half the weight of Kevlar and is twice as strong.”
Jeremiah insists he has cut no corners in creating the most robust jockstrap in the world.
He said: “We use the strongest materials known to man - other companies make their products with profit as their first thought, Nutshellz is the opposite.
“We approached the problem by choosing the best and incorporating it into our product. I guess guys have to ask themselves how much are their nuts worth?”
