Skates on: Limbo skater Devisri Prasad can glide under cars on his roller skates

The eight-year-old, from Tirupati in south east India, is now waiting to have his world record attempt - as well as four other world records for fastest limbo skating under cars, longest limbo skating, longest limbo skating backwards and lowest limbo skating - verified by Guinness.

The ultra-flexible youngster covered the 100m distance beneath the 53 cars in an incredible 22.59 seconds in the 'farthest distance limbo skating under cars backwards' category - smashing the previous record of 30m.

The primary school pupil, who is trained by his father, says he picked up the hobby at the age of six after watching his sisters rollerskating.

He said: “I was inspired by my sisters. After seeing them I started skating."

And while the boy wonder may be naturally stretchy, he fits in a gruelling training regime around his schooling to make sure he stays on top of his game.

He said: "I practice for three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening.

"I wake up at 4am in the morning. I take milk and do exercise, and then head to the skating ring.

"I come back from school every day at 4pm, eat a snack and get ready.

Then I skate for one and a half hours on the road and another one and a half hours in the skating ring."

And while Devisri doesn’t have the help of a trainer, he gets feedback on his performances from his retired engineer father, Mr Lokanathan.

"Whenever he makes a mistake I show him a video and he rectifies it and improves," he said.

"In 2012 when he competed in Mussoorie, he started with a bronze medal. But for every candidate failure is a good step to success. From that point onwards he got gold medals in all the events.
