Cereal-ism: Famous Faces Made Out of Breakfast

New York based artist Sarah Rosado uses corn flakes to make portraits of famous musicians, with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Beyoncé Knowles appearing in snack-form.

The 32-year-old self-taught artist and photographer also dishes up musical icons such as John Lennon and Bob Marley.

Sarah, who was raised in the Bronx, said: “The inspiration for the series came one morning while eating cereal and listening to oldies and R&B music.

"The idea to create celebrity faces with corn flakes was born 'because music has never tasted so good' I thought.

“At that moment I was struck with the idea to create images of my favourite musicians with the cereal.”

The artist began making the portraits back in March 2014 and has been milking it ever since.

Queen singer Freddie Mercury appears in flake-form, as does Guns and Roses guitarist Slash.

Sarah developed an appetite for art at a young age. 

She said: “When I was five I was scribbling or doodling images of little cartoon faces on everything I got my hands on.

“I am always brainstorming or creating new ideas and have already used dirt, cereal, and other medium for my artwork.

“I also use photography as a different form of art.”

Each cereal work takes Sarah roughly six to eight hours to complete.

To create facial features like ears and noses she crushes the flakes into pieces, before putting them all together like a puzzle.
