These spectacular macro images reveal minute details of their round eyes and hairy antennaes.
Photographer Yudy Sauw, from Tangerang, Indonesia, takes the pictures just inches away from his camera to capture the extraordinary detail.
With the help of his extensive equipment and focus stacking technique – which involves digitally combining images taken at different focal points - each hair can be seen on a jumping spider.
And the incredible patterns of a horsefly’s eye are also displayed.
Yudy said: “Macro photography involves using other camera accessories such as extension tubes, reversed lenses, dioptres and various other techniques to get close-up images of insects that you could not achieve with a standard macro lens such as a 100mm or 105mm lens.
“I like the details as it’s the only way I can see them clearly.
‘Through macrophotography I can capture what the human eye cannot see or comprehend.
“The pictures even to this day amaze me as the features, details and colours are outstanding.
The question that goes through my mind sometimes is "what if these insects were the size of humans or larger' and it sends shivers down my spine.”
