Terminator on the Tube: Commuters were astonished by cyborgs with metallic faces

The cyborgs went for a trip on the Central Line, red buses and later swapped Arnie’s iconic Harley for Boris Bikes.

Judgement Day: Make-up artist Monika Swiatek pulled off the incredible transformation using prosthetics on six male models
Underground: The special effects make-up drew gasps from some commuters

Special effects make-up artist Monika Swiatek pulled off the incredible transformation using prosthetics on six male models.

Using a selection of prosthetics, some homemade.

Scary? The made-over models brought smiles to the faces of many on their morning journey

Monika made up dreaded ‘T101 Terminators' from the Hollywood movie. The latest installment in the franchise, Genisys, opens in the UK today. (THURS JULY 2)

Transformation: Monika used a selection of prosthetics, some homemade to create the look

During their patrol through the capital they also took in the sights strolling across London Bridge.

Feeling his metal: Monika, from Poland, has been living in London for seven years and works in fashion and the film industry as an expert with prosthetics

And while drawing gasps from some, commuter Clare Namayanta, 26, felt a pang of recognition.

She said: “When I first saw the terminators they scared me, I wondered what was going on.

Terminator's back: The cyborgs took a trip on the Central Line

Bystander Paul Smith, 43: “When I saw the terminators I thought, ‘It’s happening - Terminator’s back’.

Gruesome: Some commuters even stopped for selfies with the models

“The effects are really, really, cool."

Going up: A Terminator takes a ride on an escalator as he emerges from the underground

The makeover was done to illustrate the findings of a survey by Rustlers into the robotic nature of the modern commute.

Not-so human: Some robotic commuters seemed not to notice the spectacle

The micro-snacking company conducted the survey in celebration of their Terminator Genisys on-pack promotion, which offers the chance to win a Terminator-themed home entertainment system.

Heading to the office? The Terminators acted like everyday commuters by playing on their phones and reading the paper

Research found that commuters were so oblivious during their daily travels that only 18% could remember the person sat opposite them.

However, 52% became more aware of their surroundings when a well-known piece of music was played.

And a massive 89% when the smell of a cooked burger and chips was wafted in.

Robotic: A terminator stares eerily at the commuter next to him

Terminator model Matthew Checketts said: "Most commuters weren’t paying attention then looked up and saw me and said, ‘wow’.

Monica used prosthetics and special effects makeup to create the impression of metal and blood

“After the initial scare everyone was entertained - especially some of the younger children.

I'll be back: The metal-faced men strolled through central London

“It was a lot of fun being a terminator for a day. It was fun to scare people a little.”
