The distressed animals were struggling to cross the river when Ilyas rushed to their aid in June 2012.

Rough love: Ilyas and Bobu snuggle up in the garden

Passersby had thrown stones at the cubs and Ilyas gave the helpless creatures first aid treatment.

Predator: Bobu has grown to 80kg

Sadly one of the cubs didn’t survive but Ilyas took the second cub, which he named Bobu, into his home and raised it as a pet.

His interest in taming wild animals brought Ilyas to Bobu's rescue

Ilyas went on to rear Bobu on multivitamin syrup for ten to 15 days and later fed him on up t0 20kg of minced meat balls a day.

Wild: Now Bobu has been released back into his natural habitat

Ilyas, 23, said: “I was informed by a friend that two baby Leopards have been found by the villagers. Being interested in taming wild animals, I immediately rushed to the spot and saw that they were trying to cross the river.

Rough and tumble: Ilyas and Bobu share a close bond

“No one came for the rescue, but I somehow managed to rescue them and took them into my possession.”

Man's best friend: Ilyas and Bobu lived under the same roof for 18 months

Now the 80kg animal has been released into a wildlife sanctuary after Ilyas handed it over to authorities in December 2014.

Ilyas said: “It was not possible for me to continue as leopards are not domestic and its not legal as well.”
