ICONIC scenes from the original Star Wars films have been re-released with new 'material' - after two brothers rebuilt the characters using NEEDLES and WOOL

Each book covers one of the first three releases - Star Wars, Return of the Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back - and contains 12 scenes from the relevant film.

All of the fan-favourites appear in fabric form - including C-3P0 and R2D2

The Canadian brothers' version of the Empire Strikes Back depicts Luke’s Jedi training at the hands of Yoda, and recreates his legendary battle with Darth Vader in the Duel on Cloud City.

Fan favourites R2D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca all appear in fabric form, and Jabba the Hutt shows up in a scene from the Return of the Jedi.

The Wang brothers, who are from Vancouver, made the characters using a technique called needle felting, where wool fibres are packed together and prodded into the desired shape.

The twin brothers, 43, took between 20 and 40 hours to make the characters, with the whole series taking roughly a year to complete.

In the practice crafters use a barbed needle to mould the compacted and tangled fibres into felt.

The Star Wars Epic Yarns are designed to help children learn to read, with each scene accompanied by a word.

Jack said: "It was an absolute thrill to work on Star Wars Epic Yarns. We saw A New Hope when it first came out in 1977 when we were five years old and we've been huge Star Wars fans ever since.
