SELF taught special effects makeup artist Ellinor Rosander and talented producer Macs Moser create jaw dropping step by step tutorials, teaching us how to look like realistic gruesome characters from the comfort of our own home

Well known for their gory special effects the Ellimacs team boast over 460,000 subscribers and was created in 2013 by 21 year old Ellinor and 40 year old producer Macs Moser.

The Swedish duo said: “The channel actually came into existence by accident. A friend of Elli’s was booked to do the makeup for an artist shoot, in my studio in February 2013.

“The friend couldn’t make it so she sent Elli instead. That’s how me met, totally by chance. Later that year in the beginning of October Elli asked if I wanted to take step by step still shots of her doing a zombie makeup. I said no, let’s film it instead.”

The talented team of two filmed the zombie tutorial and uploaded it gaining a whopping 5,000 views overnight.

Some of Ellimacs tutorials include gruesome videos of bloody open wounds and step by step transformations of well known fictional characters such as Harry Potter villain Voldemort, The Terminator and even Donald Trump.

For Elli and Macs the most challenging part of creating special effects looks for their popular channel is to find cheap and easily accessible products to create the look.

Taking inspiration from video games the creative artists take on The Volatile from Dying Light

The talented producer said: “Findings ways to create the look with cheap and easily accessible products or household items is one of the biggest challenges.”

As for future creations the duo hope to dig into the Pirates of the Caribbean universe as they find inspiration from popular movies and video games as well as audience requests.

In honour of Star Wars: Episode VII the duo created a tutorial of a classic character from the saga

For the creative artists the best part is seeing how quickly fans recreate the looks.

Macs said: “The fun part is seeing how fast people actually recreate the looks. It usually just takes a day or two before awesome instagram posts with recreations begin to pop up around the world.

Ellimacs said: “You don’t have to be a gamer to like the Until Dawn Wendigo, just love monsters”

“We often get emails from people telling us that our videos and channel have changed their life and given it new meaning by introducing them to the world of SFX. Some has gone as far as begun studies to become sfx makeup artists.”

He added: “Many in our younger audience tell us they have overcome their fear of the dark and horror movies because our videos have shown them that gory zombie monsters don’t exist for real.”
