Toddlers also join in the fun as they pose beneath the surface in a variety of costumes.
A cheeky five-month-old boy is photographed in a superman outfit, while a five-year-old girl is dressed-up as a mermaid.
The images were taken at swimming pools all over the country, with children up to eight-years-old taking part.
Lucy Ray, who runs Starfish Underwater Photography, said: “I really enjoy taking pictures of kids like this.
“They always loving doing it, and you get some really quirky photos.
“A lot of parents like to go for that classic underwater photo, but to be honest, lots are open to the idea of dressing their children up in outfits for the shoots.
“This always makes it a lot more fun.”
In one photo a child recreates Nirvana’s iconic Nevermind cover, while in another a young girl is dressed as a fairy.
A two-year-old boy poses as Batman's right-hand man Robin, and two brothers each play a recorder in another shot.
Lucy, 35, from London, took the photos between November and May.
