Ocean photographer Marck Botha took the shots in his hometown of Durban on the southeast coast of South Africa.
The 29-year-old says the rush of capturing the waves on camera is just as appealing as looking back at his images afterwards.
“I always have so much fun being in the water, I think I am more excited and have the most enjoyment when the swells are big and the adrenaline kicks in," he said.
"Then it’s a mixture of fun and excitement, the high from the moment can last for hours after.
“Watching back on some of my video footage, I’m often shouting and laughing way more than I knew.”
While capturing one image Marck was reminded of the raw power of the ocean, after he was dragged onto a coral reef and was nearly seriously injured.
Despite that, the intrepid photographer couldn’t resist returning to the water to capture more amazing photos.
He added: “I am always watching the weather and swell charts looking for perfect conditions, and when it all comes together there is nothing that is going to keep me from jumping in the water and trying to get the perfect shot.
“I feel privileged to be able to experience such beauty and love to share it with my family and growing followers on social media.
“I have also recently started selling prints online. The real reward is being able to experience the moment and to share it with so many people, I love the positive reactions I get on Instagram and other social medias.”
The South African photographer took the pictures between May and September this year.
